Lita or Doro, I could never decide which one I wanted to bang more or whose guitar playing and singing I thought more truly “metal” but with this DVD/CD double-disc package I am swingin’ way over to the Doro camp.

This is actually a Warlock vault release taken from a concert recording done in 1985 at the Camden Palace in London and features a band just about to make its mark on the metal scene. For all the T&A that drew in the men expecting to hear some puffy pretty maiden what you really get is a chick with a giant set of balls which seem to be connected directly to her vocal chords backed by four of Germany’s best metal artists. Can this “girl” rock? Hell yeah, she can, just watch for yourself. Can she sing? Yeah she does that too but you will never confuse her with Bruce Dickinson that is for sure. Still, the delivery is hard as nails and for my money the best any female rocker has managed to hang with the top of the male metal crowd. It is nearly orgasmic to see Doro perform as she does here and for more reasons than the obvious. Doro has an emotional balance to her writing that most metal of the period lacked. Just brilliant performances of brilliantly written songs that should have made Doro and Warlock much bigger stars than they ever were.

The track list runs this way: “Out of Control,” “Earthshaker Rock,” “Metal Racer,” “Wrathchild,” “Hellbound,” “Holding Me,” “Shout it Out,” “Evil,” “Without You,” “Hateful Guy,” “All Night,” “Burning the Witches” and “Time to Die.” Each of these tracks are repeated on the DVD disc with the addition of five others.

For a DVD package there is not much beyond a biography and discography for “bonus” features but the music carries this thing anyway. My suggestion, pop the CD into your car’s player for the ride from the CD shop and then drop in the DVD when you get home to see if the images Doro and Warlock’s music inspired in your mind match what went on that night back in ’85.
