Metal Skool - Fat Girl (Thar She Blows) DVD By Junkman, On-Air Personality Wednesday, December 21, 2005 @ 3:41 PM
Their DVD, a music video for the song “Fat Girl”(thar she blows) is a must for anyone who has seen their show and does not live in the area to see it again, a souvenir of sorts. I have met many people from around the world that have made Metal Skool a destination spot in their vacation plans, kind of like a heavy metal Disneyland.
The band: singer “Michael Star”, guitarist “Satchel”, bassist “Lexxi Foxxx”, and drummer “Stix Zadinia”, truly had a blast making this video, how could they not? The song is an ode to an over weight girl, (actually a guy in drag) and filled with all the things that guys like me find funny, just like their live show. Starting with an intro that sounds straight out of ANY Whitesnake song circa 1987, we follow the band as they parody their love for this monster-woman with reference to all the things that would make a guy want to believe that this chick is hot.
Produced by actor/director Dean Cameron, and also featuring an appearance by the very sexy Jasmine St.Claire, amongst others, there is a “special features” section that I found to be the best part of this video. The outtakes are hysterical. Nothing makes me laugh harder than seeing somebody screwing up, and there are a lot of them! Included is a bunch of raw footage from the video shoot, it must have been a very long day on the set!!!
Finally we follow the band backstage for “exclusive backstage interviews”, recorded by the band members themselves. Watching the band describe themselves and their fans as they put on their make up, is a treat on its own. I will always laugh when I use a “sharpie” from now on. View this video, and you will know what I mean. Do yourself a favor, go out to see Metal Skool on a Monday in Hollywood, (or wherever they play near you) and pick up a copy of this video, along with their CD. You wont be disappointed. Unless, of course you only listen to Hip-Hop or country music, you might not get it. Lets hope that’s not the case.
