DIRTY HONEY In Nashville, TN With Photos! By Michael Fischer, Writer, @toonsthatrock Saturday, February 15, 2020 @ 10:29 AM
True Blue and Made in America! L.A based rock quartet DIRTY HONEY landed in Music City tonight on their "Rolling 7’s" North American Tour performing at the Basement East with British Rock Act THE AMAZONS (who charted @ No 8 in the UK). The Basement East is one of Nashville’s most recent revised classic Music Venues in the heart of the Five Points Art District. A new rock n’ roll hotspot for acts like KING'S X, FRANK MARINO AND MAHOGANY RUSH and THE DEAD DAISIES. Tonight while DIRTY HONEY rocks the Basement East, just down the road in German Town Steve Harris’ BRITISH LION is performing at The Cowan at Top Golf. Despite two club shows in town this Tuesday Night, The Basement East is packed standing room only for DIRTY HONEY. They opened for Slash last Summer @ The Historic Ryman Auditorium, so local Nashville rockers knew all about these guys. Good crowd! The first time I heard DIRTY HONEY’s “When I’m Gone” on KNAC.COM last year I thought, “These guys f'n rock! Who the hell is this? Um TESLA?” I am a huge fan of the classic rock sound like LED ZEPPELIN, AC/DC and FOGHAT. So I Love DH. They practice what I preach. Straight ahead ballsy power rock. In this day and age it's refreshing to hear a new band playing hard straight ahead blues based rock like I grew up with. DIRTY HONEY frontman Marc LaBelle really lights it up on the vocals. Great tone and vocal range. Dude’s got some pipes. He comes from the school of Robert Plant and Steven Tyler. He sings hard with feel and has his own voice and character. With the addition of guitarist John Notto, bassist Juston Smolian and drummer Corey Coverstone, DIRTY HONEY are a soulful groove in the heart with a unique blend of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s into the now. These guys are a really great band!
This group formed just three years ago in 2017 and they’ve really evolved into a solid rock act. They’ve established they’re own sound and smooth dynamics and edgy guitar riffs as AEROSMITH once did in the 1970’s. They have worked up a great new cover of “Last Child” off Aerosmith Rocks with much praise from AEROSMITH bassist Tom Hamilton. It was recorded live at RCA Studio’s recently in Nashville with Producer David Cobb along with a live music video. Their encore tune “Rolling 7’s” has been getting some great radio airplay in follow up to “When I’m Gone”. “Rolling 7’s” vocally drips with smooth groovin’ allure. New rock anthems for a new era in Rock and to ultimately designed to keep your teenage daughters from listening to hip hop.
