Electric Frankenstein We Will Bury You By Frank Meyer, Contributing Editor Thursday, July 8, 2004 @ 12:38 AM
We Will Bury You finds the Franks collecting two discs worth of cover tunes into one ass-kickin' audio experience. They tackle punk (Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, X, The Clash, Generation X, Dead Boys), metal (Motorhead, Girlschool, Iron Maiden), hard rock (New York Dolls, Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult, The Tubes, Pink Floyd, Joan Jett) and obscure bands few of you have heard of (Rubinoos, Naked Raygun, Vox Pop, F-Word, Fun Things, Crime, etc.), and prove they are not only one of the best rock bands around, but one of the most dynamic. I mean, how many bands can do a 30-second breakneck
Guitarist Sal Canzonieri keeps things solidified in a wall of guitar sound and is the common denominator here amongst a rotating cast of rhythm sections and even singers. And while there are several solid guest vocalists through the tracks, it's mainman Steve Miller who holds it all together with his raspy throat and full-throttle delivery. Somehow, whenever he ain't on a tune, it just don't rock as hard. But hard rock is in abundance here, so have no fear. You shall be rocked. But what surprising here, and unlike much of their others albums, is that you shall be rolled, too.
