STEELHEART
Through Worlds Of Stardust
Frontiers Records 2017
The STEELHEART that released the ‘self-titled’ and Tangled In Reins albums is no more; in 2017 STEELHEART now functions as a way of singer Miljenko Matijevic to get new music under a familiar name. I don’t think you could argue that Matijevic is the face [primary songwriter and voice] of the band so who could blame him for using the name and pressing forward?
STEELHEART is known for killer ballads like and [from the Steelheart album] but they also have some rockers like "Everybody Loves Eileen", “Sheila”, "Sticky Side Up" and “Electric Love Child”. STEELHEART got thrown into the ‘hair band’ scene but truthfully the band has more in common with BON JOVI than POISON or WARRANT.
Matijevic has surfaced with a new album Through Worlds Of Stardust and new label [you guessed it] Frontiers Records. If you’re familiar with Matijevic’s previous output--- the tunes on Through Worlds Of Stardust are simply an extension of the musical path laid by Matijevic years ago. The album merges classic rock, AOR and contemporary rock music all in one nicely produced package. The standout tracks being “My Dirty Girl”, which is sure to please fans of the first two albums, the powerful “Steam Line Savings”, which clearly has a [LED] ZEPPELIN influence to it, and “My Word”.
I can’t say I love the ballads as much as the ones on the first two records but I think Through Worlds Of Stardust is a far superior record to Wait [1996] or Good 2B Alive [2008]. Don’t you wish an album this strong would get a fair shake in 2017? I do.
