Welcome to the future of Thrash. Their name is HAVOK.
The Big 4 are not getting any younger and there hasn't been a contender for a great new Thrash band in many years, until now.
I've seen HAVOK play live five times now and they never disappoint.
I just saw them recently at O'Malley's Sports Bar in Margate, Florida. They're touring for their latest release Conformicide which comprised most of their setlist. Conformicide showcases their newest member, bass player Nick Schendzielos. Nick adds a great deal to the band with his slap bass and bass fills that sounded great live.
Pete Webber is one of the best Metal drummers out there today. Seeing is believing. This guy is a machine behind the kit. The drum set was minimized for this gig because of the small size of the venue but the double pedals made up for the single bass drum. David Sanchez played guitar and sang while Reece Scruggs handled the lead guitar work.
They played two older songs tonight; "Prepare For Attack" and "Give Me Liberty...Or Give Me Death".
Do yourself a favor if you're a Thrash fan and HAVOK is playing near you. Go see them live.
