NIGHT RANGER Don't Let Up By Duane Vickers, Houston Contributor Friday, March 10, 2017 @ 1:13 PM
Don’t Let Up delivers nothing less than what you’d expect from NIGHT RANGER. It’s an album that captures the band’s classic California vibe stainless steel rock sound from the opening track “Somehow Someway” with the big chorus they’re known for and slammin’ guitars and it hooks you from start to finish. Founding members Jack Blades (Bass/Lead Vocals), Kelly Keagy (Drums/Lead Vocals) and Brad Gillis (Lead and Rhythm Guitars) put 35 years of ass kickin’, big guitar, fun rock n’ roll into this latest effort, along with fellow members Eric Levy (Keyboards) and Keri Kelli (Lead and Rhythm Guitars), to make Don’t Let Up an album that NIGHT RANGER and rock fans will completely love to play and play and play!
It’s been a long time coming that there’s been an album where you didn’t want to skip a song. Don’t Let Up is such an album. And the great thing is, is if you’re saying “yeah whatever”, you don’t have to take my word for it…just wait. NIGHT RANGER fans will tell you that it wasn’t what was on the radio in the 80’s that defined the band’s sound, it was everything, it was the deeper tracks as well as the hits, it was the hi-tempo melodic verses, the big chorus and the dual guitar harmonies and solos within their whole body of work. NIGHT RANGER has packaged it all together for you and stacked the deck in a big way with Don’t Let Up.
A lot of these tracks will without a doubt become live favorites, like “Running Out Of Time”, the title track “Don’t Let Up”, “Comfort Me”, “Jamie” and an emotional and inspirational rock ballad “Nothing Left Of Yesterday”. There’s even a blues based track “(Won’t Be Your) Fool Again”. The track “Day & Night”, which was featured on the live album 35 Years & A Night In Chicago, appears as a bonus track on the deluxe edition.
Don’t Let Up features as always with NIGHT RANGER, Blades and Keagy trading lead vocals and even splitting lead vocals on tracks as well all of the guitar you could want and more from Gillis and Kelli (making his studio debut with the band) and Levy adding the Keys tying it all together to give us the sound of the 80’s infused into 2017.
After making albums and touring for 35 years, NIGHT RANGER continues to deliver. Don’t Let Up is a fun album that you’ll definitely want to add to your NIGHT RANGER catalog when it hits March 24 on Frontiers srl because just like the band, this album 'Don’t Let Up'!
