ALL HAIL THE YETI
Screams From A Black Wilderness

Minus Head Records

Picture yourself sitting around a campfire, somewhere in a deep, dark woods, miles from humanity, telling stories of monsters, suffering, destruction and death – the kind of things that make up your worst nightmares all while set to a brash, heavy - yet sometimes melodic brand of haunting, groovy metal. That my friends is ALL HAIL THE YETI.

Screams From A Black Wilderness builds on the core sound and vibe of 2012’s self-titled All Hail The Yeti album. Think PANTERA meets DOWN in the darkest, grimiest kind of way. Hold the all too familiar songs about ex-girlfriends, songs about feelings and the ones that are politically charged that have steadily become the norm in much of today’s popular hard rock and metal– this concept album is about story-telling; sitting around the fire and trying to scare the hell out of each other. Press play and allow vocalist Connor Garrity to tell you of tales that will make you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable. His shrieks and screams provide the rough edge while the yin to Connor’s yang in the form of bassist Nicholas Diltz’s mellow clean harmony vocals cut through the chaos and clutter of the sonic, bass-heavy melody.

The opening track, “Before The Flames” serves as a prequel to the song “After The Great Fire” on the group’s previous record. It is a slow-moving, but epic depiction of an abusive orphanage with guttural screams and horrific lyrics. Things quickly pick up on “Plague Dance” and the tempo carries on for several songs. One of the many standouts, “Mr. Murder”, features guest vocals from Brock Linow (36 CRAZYFISTS).

In sort of a tongue-in-cheek way, lines from the Wizard Of Oz are used in “Witch Is Dead”, a slashing, beast of a tune. “Daughter Of The Morning Star” is yet again another chapter to the abusive orphanage story which tells the tale of a witch, once left for dead, becoming the evil that eventually would manifest into the people running the orphanage as a means of using the children for their rituals. Connor Garritty himself tells the story in much better detail in the exclusive interview available HERE.

Screams From A Black Wilderness is a scary beat down with some southern flare that will take you on a journey into some of the darkest places on Earth. This is one to not pass up. I am declaring 2016 as the year of the yeti.
