ACCEPT Blind Rage By Metal Mark Mihalo, Tulsa Contributor Monday, September 22, 2014 @ 4:47 PM
Blind Rage keeps the ferocity going that ACCEPT is known for with their relentless driving rhythm and pounding beats. Opening up is the fast paced “Stampede” with its classic metal sound and soaring solos from Wolf and Herman that gets the adrenaline running, head bangin’ and the ears ready for more. “Dying Breed” is an anthem for the founding fathers of metal including the likes of JUDAS PRIEST, BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN, AC/DC, DEEP PURPLE and others about how an era and style of metal that started a movement long ago is dying out with only a handful of bands still around spreading the word of classic metal today.
“Trail Of Tears” comes on strong with lyrics about the oppression and forced relocation of the Cherokees and other tribes from the southeastern U.S. to territory west of the Mississippi river during the 1800’s. “The Curse” is the slowest song on Blind Rage and takes on a very classic ACCEPT power ballad sound with a solid guitar foundation that leads in a strong, powerful solo and finish. Closing out the album is the fast paced “Final Journey”. Its fast galloping rhythm leading into a ripping solo is just what the auditory senses needed to end this latest contribution from such an amazing band.
This is a very solid third release from the fathers of speed/power metal after their resurrection. If there were any complaints about this album, it would be that the backing vocals seem too much at times on a few of the songs, but that would be nitpicking. It would also be great if they would put out something in the vein of “Fast As A Shark” with its speed and ferocity, or even a remake of the classic song would be cool too.
ACCEPT is currently touring in Europe, Japan and Australia through November, but look for them on tour in the U.S soon.
