The new album by Ratt’s original lead singer is what Portrait should have released a few years back. The attitude, the sleaze and the songs that helped define the band in the ‘80s is back. It’s too bad John Kalodner didn’t get it. Rather than making Ratt viable again in the late ‘90s, he snipped off the band’s balls.
Luckily, Pearcy knows what Ratt-N-Roll is all about. Does the album break new ground musically? No, but who cares? Pearcy delivers eleven brand new tracks including "Gotta Be Me," "Turn It Upside Down" and "Ya Talkin’ To Me," which could easily fit in Ratt’s back catalogue.
It would be nice to see the band reunite and make solid Ratt-N-Roll music such as Pearcy’s Social Intercourse, but since the original Ratt is far from reuniting, this album is your best alternative and will make a good addition to anyone’s sleaze-rock collection.
