Commenting on the track, Rob The Ripper says:
""In This Carousel" is one of the most emotional songs on our album. It means a lot to us. The song is about feeling isolated, the frustrations of people misunderstanding you and the unfortunate realities of facing those dark moments where you find yourself contemplating ending your own life.
We wrote this song during a rough time in our lives where two of our SICKSENSE band mates had just quit the band and Vicky's other band, THE AGONIST was breaking up. These feelings of hopelessness lingered in our lives, because these two very important bands to both of us seemingly came to an end all at once. We held things together, but ultimately we re-built the band before finalizing our Cross Me Twice album.
Our guitarist, Phil once again directed and edited the music video for us. The visuals feature all of us performing our parts in this "void" space, while Vicky is in a separate realm alongside our mascot, Deli The Bear, spinning in a music box platform."
Killer V adds:
"It's the only song on the record that I feel is truly dark. As much as people talk about battling depression, the perspective is often that it's a paralyzing sensation. I don't think that's the case, or maybe it just differs from person to person. For myself, I always felt like it was the opposite. You're constantly moving, working, going through all the motions of life, but it never feels like you're progressing. Point A to point B is like a circle and no matter how much you walk, you keep finding yourself at the start line.
I don't think there's an obvious cure, but people should talk more about how it's not something that can just magically go away. The narrative is that something needs to change for you to start feeling better. I think you need to go through it all and take as much time as you need, but never alone. That's where the line 'I could use the company, so race with me' comes from. What we need is more understanding and empathy and less pressure to change."
From the maleficent minds of dual vocalists Vicky "Killer V" Psarakis (ex-THE AGONIST) and Rob The Ripper (STUCK MOJO), comes a new wave of nu-metal. With the added arsenal of guitarist Agent Phil [Philip Lykostratis], bassist The Gothfather [Richard Regier] and drummer Smokin' J [Joseph Polizzi], SICKSENSE have crafted their heaviest record yet, melting nu-metal elements with metalcore and electronic touches for a unique spin on the rejuvenated genre.
Commenting on the record, Killer V states:
I remember spending countless hours working on keys and the overall sound design of Cross Me Twice, on top of all the vocal arrangements I normally task myself with. Teaming up with our producer, Joey Doherty, was the final step and best decision we could have made to bring you guys what we believe will be one of the absolute best sounding albums of 2025.
There's something for everyone to enjoy here and we hope it means as much to our listeners as it does to us. It's truly special."
