Houston weather has been a little crazy lately but the real storm was inside Warehouse Live on Friday March 24th.
First up was a new band for me and I was not let down one bit.
SUMO CYCO came out all guns blazing. Skye the lead singer with her good looks and amazing voice had the place rockin’ and mesmerized with her dancing and killer moves. I did not know their songs but that did not matter. The showmanship of Skye carried me thru with an overwhelming new love for them. She has a Gwen Stefani style to her and the punk attitude of NO DOUBT, but by no means tries to be anyone but herself. At one point she went into the audience on someone’s shoulders and then down on the floor where she sang low with the crowd and they followed like seasoned veterans.
Being that the theme for the NONPOINT tour was called Emerald Cities, Skye came out with red glittery shoes and they seem to work because we were all taken to another place and time. This show ROCKED!!!
Up next was the southern rock styled band BLACKTOP MOJO.
This was another band that I was not familiar with and I have to say it was fun and a little less crazy than the previous band. The lead vocalist with his big beard and husky voice was kind of a surprise but nonetheless good. It's always good to experience new music and new bands for me. While it’s not my style I still very much enjoyed it. The bass player CATT (Matt Curtis) was super fun to watch. I had been told about him and that he would be crazy fun to photograph and he was. They were like a newer version of the good ole boys of LYNYRD SKYNYRD. Don’t miss these guys if southern rock is your thing!!

Now for the headliner NONPOINT!
Lead singer Elias did not waste any time taking the audience to another level of craziness. NONPOINT is one of the most exciting and energetic shows that you can attend. These guys come out with dreads flying everywhere and guitar riffs to match. Loved the stage set up with hot air ballon and city buildings and a light show that was just crazy fun.
NONPOINT is a must see live band. So many hits but one of the newer songs “Ruthless” is hard hitting and a blast to watch live.
One of my favorite moments was when the band had Skye from SUMO CYCO join them for the song “That Day”. It just seemed to work really well with both of them collaborating. This night was amazing and some outrageous moments which you definitely want when you attend a show!!
