SPEAKING TO STONES
(In)Human Error
Animated Insanity Records (USA) No Dust Records (Netherlands)
These days when I check out new music that I'm hearing for the very first time, I try and really give it an honest listen. I take notice of what I am musically absorbing and see if this is like every other new album I've listened to before or if there's something that really stands out to my ears and has something just a little different to offer.
In the case of the latest CD from the band SPEAKING TO STONES, it was loud and clear to me, that what I was listening to was indeed something very different. SPEAKING TO STONES is centered around Guitarist Tony M. Vinci and it's his masterful guitar playing that I immediately latched on to and took notice of. Tony M. Vinci is a guitar player that really shines and he has the guitar skills to match with any shred master out there. Instead, what we get here is a collection of songs that features masterful, blistering guitar playing throughout the entire album. Rather than this becoming a shred fest it becomes an album of really well written songs where Tony plays more for the song rather than to be crowned the next guitar god out there!
(In) Human Error is not all about the guitar playing but rather the way the vocals and the guitar playing come together and bring each and every single song to life. The music throughout this album contains elements of bands such as DREAM THEATER and KING'S X, but I must say a better description of the different sounds you'll hear throughout this album could be described as heavy, intense, haunting, progressive metal w/melody. What more could any METAL fan ask for?
