UNDEROATH, SPIRITBOX, BAD OMENS In Houston, TX With Photos! By Krystiee Lee, Editor Thursday, March 3, 2022 @ 10:19 AM
Florida rock band UNDEROATH made its way through Texas recently and luckily for us Houstonians, we were able to catch them Saturday, February 19th at Bayou Music Center. If you know me personally, you know my true love for my (as I call it) “screamo” bands, so when I first heard about the ‘Voyeurist’ tour I was pretty darn stoked, but that wasn’t all. Not only was UNDEROATH on the roster but SPIRITBOX AND BAD OMENS were on it as well, another two bands I absolutely adore.
BAD OMENS started the night off with no introduction and dove right into "The Death Of Peace Of Mind", the title track to their new album, and of course front man Noah Sebastian, vocally tore into the crowd as expected. The set was short and sweet but with lots of rage covering both new music from their latest album and older jams.
Canadian metal band SPIRITBOX was up next and was honestly the band I was most excited to see that night and I’ve got to say, I was sad how short their set was. I needed more! Vocalist Courtney LaPlante plowed through with those mean screams mixed with dreamy vocals and I was literally left with my jaw on the floor. It was so hard shooting this set without getting distracted by her. Starting with "Rule of Nines" and ending with "Eternal Blue", I was in awe. It's so awesome seeing this band continue to grow and I’m pretty sure in no time they will be playing stadiums. Mark my words.
Next thing you know, UNDEROATH was front and center and the crowd went NUTS! The energy in that venue was tripled within a matter of seconds, it was insane. I'm pretty sure I saw 4 crowd surfers by the end of the first song. Yep, the FIRST song. They kicked off their 15 song set with "Damn Excuses" from their obvious newest album Voyeurist. This was my first time seeing UNDEROATH and I was definitely not prepared for how wild the crowd was. Ending the night with everyone’s fav, "Writing On The Walls" was the cherry on top of it all. At that point I, myself, was screaming along with everyone else.
It was a blast. I feel as if my life is now complete!
