JIZZY PEARL'S LOVE/HATE
Hell, CA
Golden Robot Records
Jizzy Pearl has been a fixture on the Hollywood Rock scene since the late 80's with his band LOVE/HATE. I mean who doesn't remember LOVE/HATE and their breakout album Blackout In The Red Room and the band's frontman Jizzy Pearl who hung from the Hollywood sign which became quite the media event! Pearl has always been a good singer/songwriter and anyone who has followed Jizzy throughout his career knows that vocally he has a voice that really stands out and has a voice all his own. He doesn't sound like every other singer out there and yet that I think is why he's throughout his career fronted such legendary Hollywood rock acts such as QUIET RIOT, L.A. GUNS, and RATT.
Jizzy Pearl is currently the Lead Singer for QUIET RIOT but this new album Hell, CA really is more of a solo project because Jizzy is the only member of the original LOVE/HATE on the new album but that in a large part has more to do with the other members of the band no longer having a desire to record or tour as LOVE/HATE. Pearl is the one who has kept LOVE/HATE going all these years which is the reason why the band goes by the name of JIZZY PEARL'S LOVE/HATE.
On the new Hell, CA album, I think anyone who listens to this who is a Jizzy Pearl fan is going to LOVE the album just as much as I did! I listened to the entire CD and after doing so I felt that the album was just a really solid album! The songs were all really well written and I think the new album is a future Jizzy Pearl classic because it really highlights Jizzy's talent and ability as both a singer and a songwriter. Jizzy Pearl delivers the goods on Hell, CA and it's a place I will visit many times again in the future because it's just a solid body of work that really rocked my world! If you're a fan of 80's Sleaze Rock you're just going to fall in LOVE with this album!
I also have to go on record and say that the album has a real nice flow, I mean all 10 songs really sound like they belong on the same album. Killer, Killer, Killer, and not any filler material here! My top 3 tracks off of Hell, CA would have to be "Soul Mama", "Wanna Be Somebody" and "One Hot Minute".
