So I live in Houston but I was offered a chance to fly to Salt Lake City, Utah and shoot PLUSH and HALESTORM on a one-off show away from the current tour they are both on with EVANESCENCE this winter. Huge thanks goes out to KNAC.COM!! Even though I wish it had been all 3 bands I was not disappointed at what I saw and heard. Here is my review….
PLUSH is not just pretty faces.
Take this band seriously because they are making a huge noise in the rock community. In the world of rock there has not been alot to get excited about but that is over now. PLUSH is just what the doctor ordered. Four young women showing that rock is not dead and women can rock too!! They just released their debut album and it’s quickly becoming a fan favorite. Hits included were "Sober", "Hate" and "I Don’t Care". They also do a cover of HEART’s “Barracuda” live that gets the crowd going crazy!! Stay tuned to this band, they are the future!
Setlist:
- "Athena"
- "Champion"
- "Sober"
- "Barracuda" (HEART)
- "I Don't Care"
- "Hate"
If you have not seen HALESTORM live then you are missing out! This Grammy award winning band is out on the road showing why they deserved it. It was cold outside but hot inside!! The show started with darkness and then a red room and a raspy voice screaming “I’m back from the dead” and it was on!! The chills and thrills of Lzzy Hale go thru your body like a freight train.
Then her brother Arejay appears with his flashy kit and stylish clothes as the other band mates come out and the show begins. The light show is something that is just indescribable in words but the pics below will explain in perfect form. Lzzy is amazing how she comes out and sings (never missing a note) while playing guitar and standing on crazy high heels. The band has a unique rock/grunge sound that appeals to a wide range of fans. Their fans which are called “freaks” can’t get enough of HALESTORM and it’s definitely understandable why. HALESTORM has earned the respect of fans and critics with their catchy tunes like “Love Bites(So Do I)" and sing-alongs like “Here’s To Us”. During the show Lzzy slows it down with a piano version of "Dear Daughter" and the place lights up with cell phones. It so beautiful and a sight to see. This show really has something for everyone!!
The song list is as follows:
- "Back From the Dead"
- "Love Bites (So Do I)"
- "Mz. Hyde"
- "Chemicals"
- "Do Not Disturb"
- "Rock Show"
- "Dear Daughter"
- "Amen"
- Drum Solo
- "Freak Like Me"
- "Apocalyptic"
- "Uncomfortable"
- "The Silence"
- "Here's to Us"
- "I Am The Fire"
- "I Miss The Misery"
