DIAMANTE
American Dream
Self-Released
Diamante is back with her self-released sophomore album American Dream and Holy Hell, what a phenomenal album! Let me just say that my first ever tattoo may just be Diamante and American Dream under her name. I am dead serious when I say that. I think the year and half plus she was writing this and working on it, she and I were going through similar life changes. I cannot say enough about every song on this album. It's been on repeat ever since I received it. Her first album released in 2018, Coming In Hot, reached #12 on US Heatseekers billboard chart. I predict American Dream will easily surpass that.
The title track sets the bar high for the entire album. I love the lyrics in this one: “I like the roses on his neck like a modern-day James Dean”, “You got me doing bad things in your new Mercedes” and “You got me doing bad things like it's 1980s”. This song is just sexy especially with the corvette sound added! Number 3 on the album, "Serves You Right", is perfect. Did we have the same boyfriend? God forbid the truth come out but it usually does. This song is perfectly explaining the feelings we all have: “I can't be the only one you hurt. Maybe you’ll get what you deserve. If they find out you're the villain so what, serves you right”. Such a fantastic song. It’s the Karma some deserve. The end of the song is spot on: ”And I'll be here patiently waiting, wishing and hoping and praying I'll have a front row seat when you sow what you reap”. That is what we all want in those situations. The fourth song is "Obvious". This one talks about how it's obvious he's talking to someone else, and how she feels invisible. Like many of us we care too much for someone that doesn’t even act like we are even there. It's not obvious to him but it is to her. The fifth song "Unlovable" literally made me cry. I had this song alone on repeat for one entire day. This hit me hard: “I keep making the same mistakes“, "Thought I had a heart of gold everything I touch turns to stone.” Every line in this song I have had running through my head for a couple years. Diamante wrote the most relatable lyrics. I know so many of her fans are going be in love with this one. "Wakeup Call" is up next. Damn! “Bet you hate that I don’t even need you”, “Unbreakable because of you”, lessons learned. Everything we go through with a toxic person makes us stronger in the end.
Let's talk about the 7th song shall we? "UnFuck You". There's no sugar coating her feelings in this one, which I absolutely love. OMG this is so good and 100% on point! “Trust me when I cross the line, I really cross that line", “Drunk at 2am, here we go again”. Hello, a lot of us have been there and don’t deny it. “Come one more time and then I'll hit rewind, If I could I'd UnFuck you”. I couldn’t have said it any more blatant and to the point. Hell yes. Number 9 on the album is the collaboration between Diamante and Benjamin Burnley of BREAKING BENJAMIN. They covered "Iris" by the GOO GOO DOLLS. This has been one of Diamante’s favorite songs. It was done beautifully.
American Dream has 11 songs. This is an album you won't skip most to get to one song. It just keeps getting better and better. This is truly a Rock Anthem album for those that have overcome heartbreak, struggles and life changes when it comes to love. This album better be up for album of year. Its first day was #3 on rock charts and almost 700k streams over the next few days. This album is going to wake more people up to Diamante and her voice. I am genuinely excited for her. She deserves it. Go listen to American Dream. One of the most badass albums I've ever listened to.
