Near Fatality Causes Amen to Postpone UK Tour '05 By Newsferatu, Writer Friday, April 29, 2005 @ 3:34 PM
Singer Casey Chaos was rushed to hospital last week, and operated on immediately. He was diagnosed with internal bleeding due to multiple ruptured hernias. Casey is still in hospital, but should be discharged today (May 29). He is under doctors orders not to move a muscle for at least 8 weeks.
However you cant keep a good man down, and the band are hoping that they will be able to honour dates in Europe in June, and then reschedule the UK dates. All tickets bought will be valid for the new shows when they are announced. The band would like to apologise to their fans for this first time ever, cancellation of shows.
A MESSAGE FROM AMEN MANAGEMENT re: NEW LINEUP and TOUR..
THIS IS THE FIRST TOUR IN THE BANDS HISTORY, THAT DUE TO THE CASEYS INJURY, AMEN HAS EVER HAD TO POSTPONE. IT IS THE BAND REFUSING TO DO THE DATES FOR CASEYS WELL BEING. GUITARIST JOHN KING AND DRUMMER JOE LETZ SAID, "WHEN HE CALLED US FROM THE HOSPITAL HE ACTED AS IF THE TOUR WAS STILL ON, BUT THE FOUR OF US ARE NOT GONNA ALLOW HIM TO JEAPORDIZE HIS LIFE OVER ANY TOUR. THERE WILL BE NO MORE OF THIS. WE ARE HERE FOR THE LONG HAUL. WE ARE NOT GONNA TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS OPPORTUNITY FOR A QUICK FIX, TO RIDE HIS COAT-TAILS TILL SOMETHING ELSE COMES ALONG. CASEY IS AT AN UNDISCLOSED HOSPITAL RECOVERING, WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT HE WAS EXPERIENCING SEVERE INTERNAL BLEEDING DUE TO A RUPTURED HERNIA. THE DOCTOR HAS ORDERED THAT CASEY NOT ENGAGE IN ANY STRENUOUS PHYSICAL ACTIVITY FOR 6 TO 8 WEEKS.THE BANDS FIRST DATE WILL BE IN THE BEGINNING OF JUNE IN EUROPE.
MESSAGE FROM THE NEW LINE-UP, POSTED ON BANDS WEBSITE AND MESSAGEBOARD:
We are very sorry to announce that we will be having to postpone our UK dates. As you all know, Casey was never one to take precaution while performing, and an old stage injury that has gone untreated for some time has ruptured and caused Casey to almost lose his life.
We are all very shaken up right now. This could very well have happened 2 weeks from now during a show on the tour, and due to the intensity of AMEN's live shows, it would have most likely resulted in the death of Casey Chaos. We are grateful that it happened at a time when we could address the matter immediately, and feel good to know that Casey is on the road to a quick recovery.
This happened as a result of our rigorous rehearsal schedule, and in a
strange way, is our wake up call of how hard we have been working to really resurrect and represent what AMEN is about to each one of us. Casey, in fact, wanted to go ahead with the tour against doctor's orders, but the rest of the band and I decided that we would not let him go on without a full recovery under his belt. Doctors' expect the recovery period to be about 8 weeks, which will leave us to begin our European tour (to be announced in a few days) as scheduled. We plan on returning to the UK following this tour, to make up the shows that are being postponed due to Casey's illness. We hope to figure out and announce the make up dates within a couple of weeks, and expect all tickets already purchased to be honored.
Thank you for your continued support.
Joe, Nate, John, and jinxx
