PRIMAL FEAR Best Of Fear By Alex Yarborough, Orlando Contributor Tuesday, November 21, 2017 @ 6:09 AM
Best Of Fear is a double disc collection of 27 classic PRIMAL FEAR songs, and clocks in at over 2 hours and 20 minutes. The first disc contains four new songs – to be honest, it’s really three – because the first song “Area 16” is simply a short instrumental intro to “Predator”. This killer track ranks among the band’s best songs ever recorded! Next is an amazing version of HEART’s “If Looks Could Kill”. This is a fantastic track for the band to cover, as Ralf Scheepers’ voice is perfect for it. You can listen to the track on KNAC.COM HERE. The last new track is an up-tempo masterpiece called “Thrill Of Speed”. Try driving safe speeds to this one!
The remaining 12 songs on disc one have been gleaned from second half of PRIMAL FEAR’s career, and could be called “The Frontiers Years”, as it consists of the material since the band signed with the label. There are four songs from Rulebreaker (2016), two from Delivering The Black (2014), three from Unbreakable (2012), and one each from 16.6 (2009) and New Religion (2007). The tracks chosen are appropriate, consisting of classics like “Sign Of Fear”, “In Metal We Trust”, “Six Times Dead” and “King For A Day”.
Disc two consists of 11 epics and ballads, pulled from the same albums mentioned above. There are three tracks from New Religion, and two tracks each from Rulebreaker, 16.6, Unbreakable and Delivering The Black. The disc includes classics like “Fighting The Darkness”, “The Sky Is Burning” and “Black Rain”.
If you’re a diehard PRIMAL FEAR fan, it’s worth the money to pick up this collection to get the new tracks. Also, Stan Decker’s beautiful cover art makes this an instant collector’s item. I can’t wait to see what the band does next!
