DON JAMIESON Communication Breakdown By Daniel Höhr, European Correspondent Monday, May 1, 2017 @ 3:59 PM
Former That Metal Show co-host and comedian Don Jamieson has now released his third album, Communication Breakdown. Recorded at The Funny Stop in Cuyahoga Falls, OH this album offers almost 43 minutes of relentless comedy revolving around a handful of longer stories.
The initial guitar riffing leaves no doubt that you're in for some real heavy metal comedy. The themes are the things that makes our lives either worth living or absolutely detestable – you choose: masturbation, alcohol (quite a constantly recurring topic, but hey, comedy is supposed to mirror real life, isn't it?), sex, weed, the inevitable Presidential Elections, Trump, Brad and Angelina's divorce (“I'm not worried about their kids, I'm just kidding. President Trump will deport most of them anyway.”), lots of rock 'n' roll and stuff like the Big Four of Thrash versus the Big Four of Trash (FALL OUT BOY, MAROON 5, COLDPLAY and NICKELBACK). Getting as politically incorrect as it could possible get, Don Jamieson's third album will make you cringe and is best enjoyed with friends and a couple of drinks – cocktails, maybe.
The question is whether the jokes will be as good when you listen to it a second, third of fourth time. This depends on your sense of humour but it could be that the effect wears off after a while. Still, the audience at The Funny Shop had a good laugh, the atmosphere comes across really well and good fun is guaranteed.
The only real complaint I have is the sound quality. Don sounds a bit far away, but on the other hand, the recording nicely captures the audience and the live atmosphere of the evening.
Good laugh, go and get it.
