SINBREED Master Creator By Alex Yarborough, Orlando Contributor Thursday, February 25, 2016 @ 2:31 PM
SINBREED was formed by several German metal veterans, most notably BLIND GUARDIAN members Frederik Ehmke (drums) and Marcus Siepen (guitar), to focus on straight-ahead power metal. Siepen was originally a studio member, then a full-time member on Shadows, and then eventually stepped out of SINBREED altogether to focus on BLIND GUARDIAN full-time. Bassist Alexander Schulz was a member of the band WOUND. Vocalist Herbie Langhans was in SEVENTH AVENUE and contributed vocals for AVANTASIA, as well as guest appearances for bands like KAMELOT, DREAMSCAPE and RHAPSODY OF FIRE, among others. He is a current member of BEYOND THE BRIDGE and WHISPERS IN CRIMSON as well. His melodic, yet gritty delivery helps define the SINBREED sound.
Master Creator follows the fantastic sophomore release Shadows with more quality speed/thrash/power metal. This band has been a nice respite for its members from other projects, in that they can just kick back and play some straight-ahead speed metal. But the band has evolved into something more than just a side project. This is a legitimate contender now. SINBREED have been true to metal since day one and Master Creator is the third testament to that fact. All four members contribute a stellar performance to make Master Creator another winning album, that is consistently great, just like the first two SINBREED albums. No meandering intros or boring interludes - just face-punching power metal that will get your fist pumping and head banging.
“Creation Of Reality” is the lead-off track and it’s a great tune with a soaring chorus. “Across The Great Divide” is a masterful anthem. “Behind A Mask” became a favorite of mine after spending some time with the album. Other favorites include “Last Survivor”, “The Riddle”, “The Voice” (which features my favorite riff on the album) and the title track. The band only slows things down for the ballad “At The Gate”, which is well done. Really, there isn’t a bad song to be found on the album.
There are 10 songs at around 45 minutes. Album artwork is once again an awesome sci-fi related piece featuring the band’s shrouded mascot. Fans of melodic power, speed and true metal should be proud to add Master Creator to their collection.
