“The song is inspired by the January 6th insurrection we saw on Capitol Hill and the craziness we are seeing in the world right now” states EVERYONE LOVES A VILLAIN. The track opens with a lo-fi intro, swelling into a sonic landscape of crunching guitars and driving rhythms. It’s an energetic and intense track from the beginning, replicating the lyrical content of the song. Steering the ship is lead singer, Chris McCoy, whose gritty vocals offer melodic enlightenment with an element of aggression that cements the anger behind the lyrics. ‘Heaven help us, now we’re living in the hell we made’ talks of a dystopian world but with a foreboding familiarity of reality, while in the bridge, ‘there’s no hope, we’re lost inside the memory,’ conveys the sense of hopelessness.
Their subject matters come from an array of inspiration, based on the world around them. From politics, to love and loss, their aim is to write about what they see and bring it to light. Racking up over 5 million streams on Spotify alone with their debut EP Conflict Vol.1, they’re in good stead to captivate their audience with "Hell We Made".
EVERYONE LOVES A VILLAIN combines a diverse array of musicians, who came together naturally through an 18 year friendship. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest and Nashville, their goal was to create something impactful, dynamic and melodic, demanding the listener’s attention. Taking inspiration from acts like BRING ME THE HORIZON, BREAKING BENJAMIN and STARSET, ELAV strive for something different, relying on innovation rather than imitation. Their passion for writing hard rock soundscapes has seen them share stages with the likes of NOTHING MORE, STEEL PANTHER and STARSET, gaining fans across the globe. In the madness and chaos of the world, EVERYONE LOVES A VILLAIN offers musical solace.
