2025 HELLFEST Festival Daily Lineups Revealed

The Hellfest 2025 lineup brings both surprises and confirmations, reflecting the festival's evolving identity. Headliners include MUSE, KORN, LINKIN PARK, and SCOPRIONS, a mix that broadens Hellfest's scope beyond traditional metal. This development, though divisive among die-hard metal fans, acknowledges the aging of the scene and the need for new headliners to emerge, a challenge for any genre to stay relevant. Nostalgia may drive calls for acts like SLAYER or MORBID ANGEL to top the bill yearly, but festivals must adapt or risk stagnation.
My 2024 live report sorta predicted MUSE's debut as a headliner, and their inclusion signals Hellfest's willingness to take bold risks. The expansion into mainstream territory, however, isn't without controversy. Adding MUSE, while refusing Marilyn Manson due to unresolved allegations raises questions about whether Hellfest is navigating a broader cultural shift. This year's focus on diversity, highlighted by a Mainstage 2 lineup featuring female-fronted acts like wITHIN TEMPTATION, SPICA, SPIRITBOX, and KITTIE suggests a calculated effort to appeal to modern sensibilities. Whether this resonates with metal's core community remains to be seen.
Beyond the main stages, Hellfest retains its metal roots across four other stages, delivering a diverse program for fans of black, death, thrash, and doom. Lesser-known but genre-pioneering acts like LINDEMANN, HEILUNG, and SATCHVAI (featuring Steve Vai and Joe Satriani) add depth, ensuring that purists aren't left behind. The eclectic mix also includes reunions, like perhaps the much-anticipated return of ACID BATH to headline the Valley on Friday (?), and intriguing debuts from over 100 artists.
Despite the controversies, Hellfest continues to showcase the resilience and evolution of the extreme music scene. As the festival approaches, one thing is clear: Clisson remains a vital hub for metal, offering a unique blend of tradition and reinvention. The 2025 edition might not please everyone, but it's poised to offer a high-quality lineup to feed all eager ears.
