Replay X 3, a four-disc box set from Rush containing DVD reissues of Exit…Stage Left, Grace Under Pressure Tour and A Show Of Hands along with first time in print CD soundtrack version of the Grace Under Pressure Tour, has debuted at #1 on Billboards' Top Music Video and Top Comprehensive Music Video charts. Nevermore frontman Warrel Dane is collaborating with former Soilwork guitarist Peter Wichers on material for Dane's first solo album. The CD is expected to include an appearance by Warrel's former Sanctuary (pre-NEVERMORE) bandmate Dave Budbill (currently in Zerocreep) on drums. Korn's Jonathan Davis is happy to be alive after a recent near-fatal bout with a blood infection, but he's also itching to get back on stage and do what he does best. Speaking to Billboard Magazine, Davis said, "I feel good but I feel like I want to jump out of my skin." He will rest at his home in Los Angeles until the July 27 start of Korn's Family Values tour. (Davis was rushed to a London hospital earlier this month after developing the blood disorder immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), forcing Korn to scrap the rest of its European tour.) Former Pantera/Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul will be the featured guest on next week's edition of "Headbanger's Ball", airing on Saturday, July 1 at 10:00 p.m. EST. According to a New York Times article about the health of the live concert business, up-and-coming bands are said to pay as much as $75,000 for a slot on Ozzfest line-up, while this year's headliner, System of a Down, is receiving about $325,000 per show.
Eddie and Alex Van Halen joined country artist Kenny Chesney on stage during his Saturday, June 17 appearance at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. They reportedly performed two songs — "Jump" and "You Really Got Me" — with Kenny handling the lead vocals in the former and lead guitarist Clayton Mitchell singing the latter.
Former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth — who hasn't seen Eddie Van Halen for years — has implied in recent interviews that they have been talking again and their management are involved in putting the group back together. Roth said: "I see it absolutely as an inevitability. It would be very simple to put together. I definitely see it happening."
From Sludge - Rumour has it that the Queen of Metal Lita Ford has signed on for Surreal Life 7. Maybe we'll have the pleasure of getting some bonus footage if they bring in Jim Gillette (ex. NITRO & Ford's husband) to fight Savage in a cage match! FYI: Gillette has been training with the Gracie family in South Florida and is currently 6'2" and 275lbs of solid tattoos and muscle.
