Pittsburgh-Area Couple Roughed-Up At Poison Concert Wins $650,000 Suit Against Clear Channel By Newsferatu, Writer Saturday, February 4, 2006 @ 12:24 AM
A Pittsburgh-area couple has won a 650-thousand-dollar verdict against San Antonio-based Clear Channel Entertainment.
Marco and Kathryn Lopez of Crafton, Pennsylvania, alleged they were roughed up by security guards at a concert venue owned by Clear Channel Entertainment outside Pittsburgh.
The Allegheny County jury yesterday found Clear Channel participated in the "assault, battery or false imprisonment" of the Lopezes was negligent in supervising guards at the Post-Gazette Pavilion.
The Lopezes say a guard took two of their tickets at a June 2003 Poison concert and gave them away. Guards roughed them up when they complained.
Their attorney, Timothy O'Brien, says the jury sent a message to Clear Channel that it has to improve its security practices.
Clear Channel didn't immediately respond to a message.
