Those masked metal avengers in Slipknot have received a Grammy nomination for their Top 25 Mainstream and Active Rock hit "Left Behind" in the category of Best Metal Performance. This marks the band's second Grammy nod in this category. Slipknot were nominated for "Wait and Bleed" off their self-titled debut album, which went on to sell over two-and-a-half million worldwide--in 2001. "Left Behind" can be found on Iowa, the band’s sophomore effort for Roadrunner/Island Def Jam.
In other news, Slipknot are preparing to unleash a new single in the coming weeks. Dubbed "My Plague (New Abuse Mix)," the group recently went into a Des Moines studio, on a brief break from touring, to remix the track with producer Terry Date (Deftones, Pantera). A complete aural assault, "My Plague (New Abuse Mix)" -- set to impact radio February 25--is also the feature song and first single off the soundtrack to the forthcoming movie Resident Evil. Based on the top-selling video game series, Resident Evil will be released nationwide via Sony Screen Gems on March 15th with the soundtrack hitting streets March 12th on Roadrunner Records. Also in the film world, Slipknot will be seen performing their song "I Am Hated" live in the forthcoming Rollerball movie, which premieres February 8th.
Slipknot are currently on the road in Europe.
