An Update on Jerry Cantrell By Sefany Jones, Contributing Editor Wednesday, February 11, 2004 @ 1:16 PM
Right now, Cantrell is focused on writing and recording. He’s recently contributed to Heart’s album, Fallen Ones, and he's laid down a few riffs with Filter’s Richard Patrick, in which said track may appear on Filter’s next album. Also, Cantrell recorded a track titled “Ashes to Ashes” with Damamgeplan, and the song has been submitted for consideration for inclusion on the forthcoming Punisher soundtrack.
Cantrell also recently jammed with Camp Freddy, a supergroup cover band of sorts, which features in it’s ranks guitarist Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction), drummer Matt Sorum (ex-GnR), drummer Chad Smith (RHCP) and guitarist Bill Duffy (The Cult.) Cantrell and Duffy have discussed the possibility of starting their own similar-type band.
Cantrell, who has recently uprooted his home from Seattle to Los Angeles, will travel back to Seattle on February 22nd to pay tribute to the late, great Jimi Hendrix.
After some healing time recovering from the death of bandmate, vocalist Layne Staley, it seems like Jerry is springing back to life and we should hear much more from him this year. We’ll keep you posted!
