As reported by the Associated Press:
Scott Weiland , lead singer for the Stone Temple Pilots, was ordered by a court official Thursday to immediately report to a live-in drug detoxification center and spend six months in a residential drug rehabilitation program.
Weiland was charged Wednesday with a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence stemming from his arrest the day before in Hollywood.
Superior Court Commissioner Collette Serio said Weiland, 36, can spend four hours out of the residential facility for 10 days in November so he can finish an album.
Weiland will be taken to the recording studio by an off-duty officer and will be tested for drugs immediately upon his return, Serio said.
The commissioner also banned Weiland from driving a vehicle.
Weiland was sentenced to three years' probation in August after pleading no contest to one count of possessing heroin.
He also had a prior drug arrest and was jailed in 1999 after he violated probation and didn't complete drug rehabilitation programs.
Weiland also is the frontman for Velvet Revolver, which features three former Guns N' Roses members. The band is expected to release an album next year.
