The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs Head To Gainesville And Go On The Road with the Ramones By Tokemaster General, Contributor Wednesday, September 17, 2003 @ 10:47 AM
In addition, Bomp!/Alive Records will be re-releasing the Cheetahs 1997 debut full-length, Overdrive, with bonus tracks. Maximum Overdrive will be released this Fall complete with new artwork, new liner notes, three outtakes from the sessions, and four out-of-print songs previously issued on vinyl only (including collaborations with Runaways vocalist Cherie Currie and Radio Birdman guitarist Deniz Tek). To tide folks over, fans can hear unreleased and rare Cheetahs material at www.thestreetwalkincheetahs.com.
Meanwhile, Cheetahs vocalist/guitarist Frank Meyer has assembled a new band called Sweet Justice with Bruce Duff (ADZ, formerly of 45 Grave, Jeff Dahl) and Chris Markwood (formerly of Blare Bitch Project, Bellrays) that has signed to Real O Mind Records (www.realomind.com) to release their debut album in 2004, which they began recording last week. Sweet Justice also has a single called “Outta Sight” on the way through American Ruse Records (www.americanruserecords.com).
Meyer also recently finished his debut book, On The Road With The Ramones, to be released through the Sanctuary Records Group's publishing division, Sanctuary Publishing, on November 3rd. Co-authored with the seminal New York punk band's longtime tour manager Monte A. Melnick, the book chronicles the band's 22 year history on the road and features interviews with the Ramones, Blondie, Talking Heads, Dead Boys, New York Dolls, Dictators, Supersuckers and many more. On The Road With The Ramones can be pre-ordered through www.Amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble.com.
