ZAKK WYLDE’S EPIPHONE BULLSEYE GUITAR AUCTION MOVES TO THE NEXT ROUND
WARWICK, R.I. – The winner of the Zakk Wylde charity raffle at Daddy’s Junky Music surprised everyone at the store Wednesday when he handed the autographed guitar back to the guitarist, asking to have the rest of the bands on Ozzfest sign it and re-auction the instrument to benefit the victims of the Station Nightclub fire.
Rick Webb of Pawtucket, R.I., was announced as the winner of Wylde’s Epiphone “Bullseye” guitar and assorted other Zakk Wylde/Black Label Society swag at an in-store appearance at the Warwick, R.I., location of Daddy’s Junky Music.
“We were amazed that the winner would do this,” said Daddy’s Promotions Director Candi Bramante. “The reaction in the room was absolutely amazing. I think it left us all speechless.”
“We are gonna get everybody on the tour to sign it,” said Wylde. “It’s awesome. This is a great cause.” Wylde also offered tickets and passes to the two-dozen survivors in attendance to the following night’s Ozzfest date in Mansfield, Mass.
The raffle, sponsored by the store and radio station WHJY, yielded a $5,000 donation to The Doc Fund, a charity established in the name of Michael "The Doctor" Gonsalves, a DJ at WHJY who perished in the fire. The Doc Fund gives 100 percent of all money collected to two charities - one that gives assistance directly to the survivors and families of the victims of the fire and the other a scholarship set up in Doc's name at his alma mater, Rhode Island College.
Details on the new auction will be announced at www.daddys.com.
Wylde is currently on tour with Ozzy Osbourne at Ozzfest, and just released his first DVD, Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society – Boozed, Broozed & Broken-Boned, on SpitfireRecords/Eagle Rock Entertainment.
