Nobody knows what future lies ahead for Pantera, and time will only tell. However, in the meantime, here are a few updates on each of the band members:
Bassist Rex Brown, who spent last year with Down, has officially joined New Orleans’ Crowbar. He will play with them as well as produce their next album, which is tentatively due out sometime this year.
Vocalist Phil Anselmo has been telling various interviewers that at this time, his focus is solely on Superjoint Ritual. As far as his future with Down and Pantera, he told MetalIndex.com, “Never say never… [but] not now.” Superjoint’s sophomore album, A Lethal Dose of American Hatred is due out on July 22nd through Sanctuary Records.
Guitarist Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul have formed a new band called New Found Power, and have been apparently focused on that. The two recently caught Anthrax’s Killeen, TX headlining gig on May 24th. Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante had posted on their official website the following thought: “I wonder if we could do some shows together in August?? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm??” Dimebag recently appeared on Anthrax’s latest effort, We’ve Come For You All, on the tracks “Strap It On” and “Cadillac Rock Box.”
