Greeting KNAC fans,
I'm Jani Bon Neil with Metal Sludge. I've been granted the privilege of addressing the KNAC.COM audience with a few things I would like to say regarding Bianca Halstead's death.
First and foremost, Brian ("William") McAllister was NOT associated with Metal Sludge.
He was not a writer. He was not one of us. He wasn't sent to New Orleans to interview Bianca. And as far as we're concerned, he wasn't even a contributor. He might have been a fan of Metal Sludge, but we have no desire for fans like McAllister.
We had never heard his name until the fateful day that Bianca was killed.
From what I understand, McAllister had hung out with Bianca numerous times. He knew her without our help. If he went around telling people he worked for our page, he was full of shit and wanted to take credit for shit he had nothing to do with. Since we run our site anonymously, it's possible that jackasses can proclaim they run our site when in reality they just want attention. Anybody who really works for Metal Sludge would not run around town talking about it. That would sort of defeat the purpose of our page!
Think about this:
When the Nightstalker was shown wearing an AC/DC shirt, was AC/DC to blame?
When that kid killed himself listening to Ozzy, was Ozzy to blame?
Of course not.
So if somebody emails our page or wears a Sludge shirt and then goes out and does something stupid, are we responsible?
Fuck no!
And KNAC isn't responsible if some jackass wears a KNAC shirt and does something similar.
As everybody knows, both Metal Sludge and KNAC accept content from our fans. We both believe in the concept of the fans being part of our sites. However, that does not imply or solidify that because we feel we want to give the fans a voice, that the blame or liability of a fan's action should fall on us when an event like this occurs. While we encourage our fans to be a part of our sites, in the end YOU are responsible for your own actions.
