Doro Brings Metal to the Desert

Gotta admit the day started off pretty killer. Doro Pesch did a meet and greet at the infamous Naked Dave’s Music in Tempe AZ prior to her gig at the Rocky Point Cantina in Tempe. She was nothing but smiles and class as she talked to each and every one of the fans that showed up to meet her. And I do have to take a humble minute to admit that it was very cool when, as she was leaving to go to the venue, she looks back and yells “Hey Crpn, you’re going to the show tonight, right?”. You bet your ass hon.

Never been to the Rocky Point before, not even sure if it was renamed/under new ownership – you know how it goes. Regardless, NICE place. Stage inside, but walking a straight line brings you to the patio outdoors. Very cool structure.

I really hate to admit that I didn’t get there in time to catch Sister Sin’s set, as I walked in to the last song. From the very little I saw, these guys could easily come back and rock a bigger venue in AZ. Precise, tight and dripping with attitude, I easily think they owned the crowd.

Until, of course, Doro shows up. The band hits the crowd with I Rule the Ruins, Raise Your Fist, and Unholy Love. The crowd was just roaring with support. The entire band was giving it 110% and it showed. This could have been Madison Square Garden as far as the band was concerned. The band meshed so well and it showed.

The night finished off with East Meets West, Revenge, All We Are, Metal Racer, Burning the Witches, Fight for Rock, Breaking the Law, Metal Tango, Earthshaker Rock, and Love Me in Black.
