New Jersey's crazed punk-metal outfit The Dillinger Escape Plan will be releasing their upcoming Epitaph EP Irony Is A Dead Scene on August 13th. Featuring guest vocals by the multi-talented Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantomas, Lovage), guitars by Ben Weinman and Brian Benoit, bass by Liam Wilson and drums by Chris Pennie, the 18-minute EP is a wildly progressive amalgam of complex musical styles. By combining the feral intensity of hardcore and technical precision of metal with mind-boggling tempo changes and jazzy freakouts, The Dillinger Escape Plan have become somewhat of an underground phenomenon in the world of extreme music.
Having just completed a 30-date, sold out, European arena tour with System of a Down, The Dillinger Escape Plan's summer plans include performances on the Main Stage at the prestigious Reading and Leeds festivals in the UK, as well as an appearance at this year's Krazy Fest in Louisville, KY on June 22nd.
The Dillinger Escape Plan has also been garnering its fair share of critical acclaim. Exclaim! Magazine recently wrote, "Dillinger Escape Plan is unquestionably the razor's edge of creativity in the current hardcore/metal underground. Few bands have reshaped the limits of what extreme music can be to the degree that Dillinger Escape Plan has, redefining genres while establishing their own unique identity in the process." And Guitar World Magazine added, "Call it death metal, hardcore or the ungodly offspring of Mahavishnu Orchestra and Cannibal Corpse, but The Dillinger Escape Plan's music defies interpretation, and that's just how these Jersey youngsters like it."
