They finally played the capitol of Florida. LA Guns was scheduled about 6 months to play here, but cancelled. Go figure. It's Tallahassee. Anyway, this show was on (even though the rumor was they were not coming) and I was pumped.
I arrived at Floyd’s (Creed made this place notorious, not famous) just in time to meet their road manager. He has worked with Pretty Boy Floyd in the past, so we talked about those guys. He thought it was cool that someone in Tallahassee knew music. I hung out for two years with Steve and Kristy from PBF. My foot hurts now from name-dropping. Cool guy. We chit-chatted, as the line outside grew, about the bands he has worked with, and he assured me the band was fired up for the show. Opening with "Over the Edge," you could tell.
The crowd, approximately 500, was into the show. For this I was grateful. I found a cool spot in front of Tracii and just watched. Ripping through some classics, as well as "Man on the Moon," I maintained my smile throughout. Tracii's solo included a violin bow, and Steve's drumming was solid. Phil still has his stage presence, and Adam never stops moving. The band was super tight.
After the show, the band did their "meet and greet," and the guys all seemed to be in a good mood. Tracii retired to the bus after the show -- not feeling well. After some hand shakin' and picture takin', I noticed about 40 people trying to re-enter to go to the meet and greet. Some big Floyd's security guy would not let them in. Even Steve was waving them to come on in, but to avail. Go figure. It's Tallahassee.
Set List (not in order): Over the Edge
Sex Action (had a little 10 second "Paint It Black" part in there at the end)
Show No Mercy
Never Enough
Man on the Moon
Long Time Dead
(Tracii sang a blues song)
Beautiful
Rip and Tear (last song)
Ballad of Jayne (first encore)
Electric Gypsy
One More Reason
I think I'm missing a song, but it couldn't be the 10 drafts I had. Anyway, thanks to guys for showing up. Thanks to their road manager for being cool. Thanks to Floyd's. NOT!!!! On to Orlando to see them open for Dokken!
