Metallica's Death Magnetic tops the charts for sales in the U.S., the U.K. and several other countries in it's first week of release. The band's first album in 5 years sold almost 490,000 copies during the first week on sale.
Underoath, whose last three albums count combined sales in excess of one million copies--have entered the Billboard Top 200 Album chart at #8 with over 56,000 copies sold of their Lost In The Sound of Separation album, available in regular and special editions. Marking the top rock debut for this week, Lost In The Sound of Separation also reached #1 on Billboard’s Top Christian albums chart and #5 on the Top Digital albums chart with over 9,476 digital downloads its first week.
Sammy Hagar will release a new album on Loud & Proud Records on November 18th. Cosmic Universal Fashion marks the first official release for Loud & Proud, a Roadrunner Records imprint focusing on established artists. The title track and first single, “Cosmic Universal Fashion,” was written as an online collaboration between Hagar and a young Iraqi rock and roller by the name of Steven Lost.
As Norma Jean prepare for their headlining fall U.S. tour, the group has debuted a behind-the-scenes teaser from the video shoot for their first single “Robots 3, Humans 0.” The making-of-the-video clip features interviews with Norma Jean and video director Daniel Chestnut (Hurley Entertainment) as well as appearances from such artists as Saosin, Beat Union and Confide. San Francisco melodic death thrashers Light This City have confirmed Nov. 11 as the release date for the band’s fourth full-length album, entitled Stormchaser, which will be released through Prosthetic Records. A new track, “Sand And Snow” has also been posted on the Light This City MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/lightthiscity).
Albuquerque, NM’s own Last House on the Left have announced a November 11th release date for the full-length Among Flies on Ferret/SOAR. Newly re-launched myspace page http://www.myspace.com/lasthouse has the debut of their new song Liath Lionneach as well as stunning cover art from Marvel and DC comics artist, Simon Bisley. The effort was mixed by Grammy Award winning producer Neil Kernon (Cannibal Corpse, Nevermore) and will be available via Ferret Music in North America!
