Gwar has issued the following statement: "Todd Evans, talented musician and portrayer of Beefcake the Mighty, bass player for the legendary Gwar, has announced he is leaving the band after five years of invaluable service. Yearning for his true instrument, guitar warrior Todd will continue to jam with his new band, Mobile Death Camp. Todd was without a doubt the most physically intimidating Beefcake Gwar has ever known, and truly made the character his own with his sharp wit and broad acting range. Todd was a true Gwarior and will be sorely missed."
The recently reunited Stone Temple Pilots can add a full-fledged summer amphitheater tour to its previously announced U.S. festival dates. According to Billboard.com, details are still coming together, but a source close to the alt-rock band says STP will play more than 50 shed dates this summer and into fall, beginning with the Rock on the Range festival on May 17th - 18th at Columbus, Ohio's Columbus Crew Stadium.
Rhino Records will be releasing the new Dokken studio album Lightning Strikes Again in the US on May 13th, and Rhino announced that anyone who pre-orders the CD from Rhino will receive a free poster signed by Don Dokken. See http://rhino.com/Dokken for more details.
Lacuna Coil's Andrea Ferrero has issued the following update: "I’ve been very busy with the works on the new Lacuna Coil album that has started taking shape. We feel like we’re on the right creative mood but we still wanna write a lot more material before we call it done." As previously reported, Lacuna Coil frontwoman Cristina Scabbia recently spoke with UK rock magazine Kerrang! about the group’s forthcoming CD. Regarding the sound of the album, Scabbia commented, "[the album] will leave you with your mouths open. We want to experiment, we want to try something completely different, something that will rock your faces more than ever while still being Lacuna Coil?" The as-yet-untitled album is due for release in September 2008.
