Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash was interviewed for the cover of a new Sam Ash catalog. In the interview Slash was quoted as saying: "I still think that Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) is an all time genius heavy metal guitar player. He’s amazing and he always picks great guitar players for his band. I don’t know the name of the new one, but he’s really good."
According to MaidenFans.com, Iron Maiden will headline the Metal Day at the Rock In Rio festival in Madrid and Lisbon as part of their recently announced Somewhere Back in Time Tour 2008. Apparently those are the only shows the band will do in Spain and Portugal.

Atreyu's Lead Sails Paper Anchor rocketed onto Billboard’s Top 200 this week at Number 8, and Billboard’s Rock and Hard Rock Album charts at Number 1, making it the highest-charting album of the band’s career. The debut is also significant in that Atreyu distinguish themselves as one among a very short list of hard rock acts to have debuted in the Top 10 this year.
As previously reported Vader's DVD entitled ...And blood Was Shed In Warsaw will be released by Metal Mind Productions on 15th October in Europe / 5th November in USA (via MVD). Among bonus features it will also contain a special video-clip for a song "Sword Of The Witcher" which was recorded exclusively for a video game called "The Wicher". ProgPower USA IX organizers have issued the following in regards to next year's festival: "The ProgPower USA IX roster announcement will take place after the All-Star jam on Saturday night to close out the fest. I will announce as many acts as I have confirmed. There is a very good chance that will include all ten of them. I am not sure when the date will be announced as I have to finalize hotels first."
ProgPower USA VIII takes at Atlanta, GA’s Center Stage on October 5th, 6th.

Set to go into production this month, Exodus will be shooting a video for 'Riot Act', off their upcoming new album The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A, slated for release in North America on October 23.
Danzig will be announcing a handful of East Coast US live shows for the week leading into Halloween. According to a band update, "looks like NYC, Philly, Baltimore and possibly Worcester/Boston. West Coast Halloween shows may also be added. Danzig has said he will perform a few songs from the new Lost Tracks double CD at these shows. Fans don't want to miss these shows, as they will be the only ones for a while."
Raven mainman Jon Gallagher announced that the band has four songs "about 95% done and another ten which we have some work yet to do. I go into do vocals on Tuesday." The new album will be called Walk Through Fire, with a tentative spring 2008 release.
