Pariaus in Torrance, California By A Headbanger, Do You Bang Head? Wednesday, February 28, 2007 @ 7:53 PM
Friday night I was hanging out at the Crest in Torrance expecting to see the same ol shit but I was floored when I saw this new band Pariaus own the stage. They opened with a familiar song Harbinger with a sick ass guitar solo. The drummer Shawn Jordan, had some pretty insane chops. From what I was told that was the first show breaking in their new vocalist Lance Keats, whose pipes fit the sound of the band nicely. This number also featured some pretty bad ass guitar work by my man Rob Turner. Right after that jam they marched right into Recreant. This fucking song was meaner than shit. The drumming and dual guitars would get any crowd stampeding in a circle before they knew what happened. The bassist Rob Black didn’t break pace the whole song. Right about here is when the beer started going down a lot easier as the music just kept getting better. These boys didn’t disappoint. The next song was Faceless, a testament to Shawn’s technicality on drums and the whole fucking band was tight. Like a god dam metal assault. If you get the chance, check these boys out. As far as new music is concerned this is one band that should be opening for Anthrax or Devildriver instead of these bullshit hardcore bands which is one direction this band doesn’t seem like they are heading after I got a chance to talk with Lance. Pariaus is a metal band, a good one at that. These fella’s sure as fuck would get the pit swirling in no time provided they get that chance. There heavy as all fuck. This is the sort of band that should be opening up shows and getting us in the mood to mosh.
