Static-X in San Antiono By A Headbanger, Do You Bang Head? Wednesday, February 28, 2007 @ 7:13 PM
Static-X headlined the Slinging Ink Tattoo Fest. in San Antiono on February 24th. The opening bands were local talent I did not see.
Here is the set list:
The Opening song (and title track Cannibal) hits like a locomotive at full steam. The ferocity of the first few seconds of the song makes one recall Slayer at their best and quickly turns into what Static-X is know for, pure unadulterated heavy slamming in your face industrial evil disco like no one else can deliver.
The set list plays more like a greatest hits list than a set list, including the evocation of the new tracks I hadn't even heard before. First of after Cannibal was No Submission, this was featured on the SAW 3 soundtrack. Then Behemoth. What a monster indeed. Slams like Sweat of the Bud or Permanence but different, too. After that came the radio released Destroyer. I had heard this track on the radio and it delivered live in a BIG way. Splice this new flavor in with all the tracks you've come to love (including the re-appearance of WDT's Trance is the Motion) and you've got the recipe for one of the best shows I've EVER seen.
All members were on point and so your not taken by total surprise, EVERY new song has a shredding guitar solo by Koichi. To say I was totally blown away would be a huge understatement.
The only advice I can give is when they come to your town, DON'T MISS OUT! This is Static-X at it's best.
