Nashville Pussy was also scheduled to play this show but they were held up
at the border.
At 60 bucks a pop (that's Canadian!), it was an expensive show and by the
only half full venue, it was clear that not many wanted to shell out that
much dough for a Baz-less Skid Row but those that did were in for a treat.
Kings X was up first.
Doug (Pinnick) made the point that 60 bucks was a lot to pay but would make it worth
while. They played a killer set which included Alone, If, Dogman, Over My
Head, Black Flag, and Looking For Love.
After their set, the band hung out with fans at their merch table before
Skid Row came on and talked to fans, took pictures, and signed autographs.
Skid Row was up next.
Personally, I think people need to be more open minded when it comes to
replacing a singer because like Alice In Chains, a new singer does have very
big shoes to fill but if you give them a chance you will see that they are
great on their own right. You don't want to miss out on a great show
because you miss the old guy too much.
Their new singer, who they have now had for over five years and two albums
so perhaps hardly new now, Johnny Solinger sang great and had great stage
presence.
Scott Hill was full of energy, throwing guitar picks at fans and slapping
high fives.
Rachel (Bolan) was full of some mean base lines and of course, Dave "The Snake" Sabo was on the top of his game and played some mean solos. They had a new
drummer, Dave Gara and he fit the part of rock drummer perfectly.
The set list was jam packed with new and old Skid Row tunes as well as a
Ramones cover.
