"[Robert Berry] is like another member of the band" - Corey Schenck

PANGAEA is a Progressive Rock band out of the great state of Texas. While the group's origins date back to 1989, it wasn't until 1997 that the group completed and released their first official studio album The Rite of Passage. The album was produced by Robert Berry, known for his work with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer in the short-lived 1988 Prog project 3. Berry would return to guide PANGAEA through two more releases, Welcome To The Theater (1998) and A Time & A Place (2002).

Not long after, PANGAEA would go off the grid, while its members pursued other projects, started a family, or dedicated their time to careers outside of music. PANGAEA reunited a few years ago, not just with its principle members, but also with producer Robert Berry (now with SIX BY SIX). The results are on their latest album Beowulf, released on May 23, 2024 via their own imprint Hargadein Music Group.

The album is only available through PANGAEA's official website as a CD or paid digital download. The group has also made available remastered versions of their 1997-2002 albums. I had the chance to catch up with keyboardist Corey Schenck and drummer Andi Schenck to find out more about PANGAEA.

Highlights include:

-Discussion of Beowulf
-The stories behind the singles
-Reuniting after 15 years
-Working with producer Robert Berry
-Why the album is not available for streaming
-Side projects each have done with Berry
-Album cover artist RAINDER KALWITZ
-Leftovers from their writing & recording sessions
-Their 2 hour performance at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame
-Future live show plans
-Re-releasing their back catalog
-The fate of their unreleased 2003 album THE RECKONING
-Recording at PETER & DAN AYKROYD's house
-The origins of the band name
-And much, much more!
