So Shall It Be: An Exclusive Interview With STET HOWLAND Of FREAKSHOW By George Dionne, Podcaster Tuesday, March 12, 2024 @ 6:24 AM
Sadly, the music world and FREAKSHOW lost Frankie Banali in 2020, and Jeff LeBar in 2021. 2023 saw the formation of a new FREAKSHOW with Ronnie Borchert still at the helm. Backing him up this go round is Carlos Cavazo (QUIET RIOT) on guitar, Greg Chaisson (BADLANDS) on bass (Rik Fox of STEELER was on live bass but now also departed), and Stet Howland (METAL CHURCH) on drums.
On October 27, 2023 FREAKSHOW released their sophomore album So Shall It Be through Eonian Records. As KNAC.COM contributor Terry Martinson states "there is nary a skip-worthy moment on [the album]." I had the chance to catch up with Stet Howland at his newly opened Fort Myers bar and entertainment venue, simply titled Stet's Bar in early February.
Together we talk about the latest FREAKSHOW release, how he got involved in the project, working with Eonian Records, their upcoming live performances, the cancellation of METAL CHURCH's 2024 tour, why subbing out Kurt Vanderhoof wouldn't have worked, other offers and projects on Howland's plate, another HOWLAND HYATT album, his new bar, putting the final touches on his album with Tommy Bolin (DORO), and much, much more.
