The latest release by Portland Doom Metal act LORD DYING is the second part of a planned concept album trilogy. The story began with the release of Mysterium Tremendum in 2019 and follows the adventures of the undying entity, The Dreamer. Clandestine Transcendence was released on January 19, 2024, and it continues the story of The Dreamer as he gets his wish for death.

I had the chance to catch up with frontman Erik Olson shortly after the album's release, to go a little more in-depth on the early and current exploits of The Dreamer and where he may be heading.

Olson also discusses the stories behind the singles, whether any particular movie or book inspired his main character, two new additions to the band, bassist Alyssa Maucere & drummer Kevin Swartz, the multiple vinyl configurations presented by their label MNRK Heavy, upcoming live performance plans, their recent European tour with CONAN, how long we'll have to wait for the final chapter in the trilogy, and much, much more.
