Czech Heavy Metal act DYMYTRY released their first album in English, Revolt, at the beginning of 2023. The album was a reworking of their 2019 native language album Revolter. I remember listening to Revolt last year and being impressed with DYMYTRY's catchy hooks and powerful Metal anthems.
DYMYTRY didn't wait long to follow up their English debut. Five Angry Men was released on January 26, 2024 through AFM Records. The album contains re-worked music from their 2022 Czech release Pharmageddon, as well as new material. It's a bit confusing to envision there are two versions of DYMYTRY, each in a different language. What's not confusing is their ability to deliver yet another dynamic and energetic Heavy Metal album.
I had the chance to catch up with vocalist Alen "A.L." Ljubic and bassist Artur "R2R" Mikhaylov ahead of the album's release to find out more about DYMYTRY. Together we discuss the band's latest album Five Angry Men, how the band originally formed, having two different versions of the band, the stories behind the singles, how producer Kristian Kohle discovered English language vocalist Alen Ljubic, signing with AFM Records for their international releases, the upcoming 5 Angry Men Tour, whether American fans or journalists compare them to SLIPKNOT or MUSHROOMHEAD, what was the inspiration behind their masks, and much, much more.
