New Zealand Heavy Metal act LIKE A STORM released their first album The End of The Beginning in 2009. Little did brothers Chris Brooks, Matt Brooks, and Kent Brooks know what lay ahead for them.
Over the course of 13 years and four studio albums, LIKE A STORM has burned up festival stages at Download UK, Hellfest, Homegrown New Zealand, Navarock, Graspop, Download Japan, and more. They've shared stages with Heavy Metal and Hard Rock heavyweights along the way.
Known for their unique usage of the didgeridoo in conjunction with their guitar riffage, LIKE A STORM has gone on to release seven Top 40 singles in the U.S. Active Rock chart, and recently reached a milestone of 150 million streams across all platforms.
On September 15, 2023, LIKE A STORM released their newest single "Sinners & Saints". The track is a preview of what is to come from their currently in production fifth studio album. I had the chance to speak with bassist/keyboardist Kent Brooks shortly after its release.
Kent discusses the meaning behind their new song, how the brothers started in other bands before uniting, their upcoming 5th studio album, how one use of the didgeridoo led to it becoming their trademark, upcoming tour plans, their recent trek with SKILLET, why Download Tokyo was one of his most memorable performances, covering "Gangsta's Paradise" by COOLIO, and much, much more.
