It has been 30 years since ACID KING released their debut self-titled EP. Over the years members have come and gone, with front woman Lori S. remaining the constant. Following a string of live shows in 2019 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their landmark album Busse Woods, Lori hunkered down (like the rest of us) to work on a new project. Well, she thought it was going to be a new project.
Jason Landrian (BLACK COBRA) and Lori always wanted to work on ‘something’ together throughout the years, and they finally found their open window. The result is the latest album under the ACID KING banner, Beyond Vision. The album is set for release on March 24, 2023 through Blues Funeral Recordings. I had the chance to speak with Lori S. ahead of the album’s release.
Highlights include:
-Discussion of new album Beyond Vision
-Album originally intended as a side project
-Working with Jason Landrian
-Apollo 11 soundtrack inspiration
-ACID KING’s 1st ever professional music video
-Trusting in producer BIlly Anderson
-Rescuing antiquated recording equipment
-Vinyl editions of the album
-Is vinyl becoming a luxury item
-Signing with Blues Funeral Recordings
-2023 Live performances
-Does Lori get starstruck playing festivals with huge acts?
-Was any new material written during this album’s delays?
-And much, much more
