Norwegian songstress ISSA released her seventh studio album Lights of Japan on January 20, 2023. The Melodic Rock vocalist is calling the album a ‘rebirth’ as she takes the production, songwriting, and recording literally in-house. Together with her husband James Martin and her brother in-law Tom Martin, ISSA crafts Lights of Japan into a soundtrack aimed to mimic those hazy summer days and hot summer nights of your favorite ‘80s movies and television shows. I had the chance to speak with ISSA shortly after the album’s release.
Highlights include:
-Discussion of new album Lights of Japan
-Her shift in sound, production, and songwriting
-Working with James and Tom Martin (ex-VEGA)
-Debating with Frontiers on which songs should be singles
-Stories behind the songs
-Working with producer Michele Guaitoli (VISIONS OF ATLANTIS)
-Live show plans
-Performing with Ted Poley (DANGER DANGER)
-Appearing on his solo album Beyond The Fade (2016)
-Working on the next NITRATE album
-Tom & James leaving VEGA to concentrate on production
-And much, much more
