German Symphonic Metal Act BEYOND THE BLACK debuted in 2015 with the release Songs of Love And Death. That album charted in the German Top 15 for multiple weeks. While their strong debut could be dismissed by some as lucky, the three albums that followed saw BEYOND THE BLACK chart in the Top 5. Their 2020 studio effort Horizons reached the #3 spot.
January 13, 2023 will see the release of BEYOND THE BLACK’s 5th studio album, simply titled Beyond The Black. It will be their first release with Nuclear Blast Records. I had the chance to speak with vocalist Jennifer Haben ahead of the album’s release.
Highlights include:
-Discussion of 2023 self-titled album
-Stories behind the singles
-Getting ‘nerdy’ in their music videos
-Bringing imagery and magic to their stage show
-Why self-title the 4th album in their discography?
-Working with Nuclear Blast Records
-Recent tour with AMARANTHE
-Pranking their singer Elize Ryd
-2023 touring & festival plans
-Any pressure after the success of 2015 debut?
-Why her backing band departed after 2016 album
-Competing on a kid’s pop rock TV show
-And much, much more!
