If Sweden had a “Big 4” of Melodic Rock (in the modern era) it would have to be ECLIPSE, H.E.A.T, CRAZY LIXX, and PERFECT PLAN. Driving guitars, big hooks, catchy choruses and over the top high energy productions put this foursome in a league of their own. PERFECT PLAN hit the scene with their 2018 debut All Rise. October 14, 2022 saw the release of their third studio album Brace For Impact. In his downtime, frontman Kent Hilli has put out a solo album and EP, plus he took over for Dan Huff as a member of the late 80’s U.S. Melodic Rock band GIANT. I had the chance to speak with Kent Hilli shortly after Brace For Impact was released.
Highlights include:
-Discussion of Brace For Impact album
-Songwriting process
-Stories behind the singles
-Competition within the Swedish Melodic Rock scene
-Signing with Frontiers Music
-Hitting the road after lockdowns
-How he landed the gig in GIANT
-Taking over for Dan Huff
-His next solo album
-New collaboration on the horizon
-And much, much more
